World Book Day
Celebrating our love of reading!
On Thursday 2nd March, we celebrated our love for books at GHF in the annual celebration of authors, illustrators and reading that takes place in more than 100 countries around the world.
This year we had a ‘Where’s Wally’ theme. Cheeky Wally was hiding in the school hallways and playground, the children were on the lookout throughout the day in a competition to find Wally. All the children who were successful received a special Where’s Wally certificate to take home. Children were also invited to bring in and share their favourite books from home with their classes.

Throughout the week of World Book Day, we had lots of parents volunteering to come into school and read to children each day. It was the highlight of this term! Some parents read to groups of children and some even read to the whole class—everyone loved it.
Pupils also took part in our ‘design your own version of Where’s Wally’ and the winners (as pictured) received a Where’s Wally book.
Thank you to Mrs Daley for organising the event and thank you to everyone who came in to read.
