Curriculum Wow Days
Spring term topics have an inspiring start.
On Wednesday the 10th of January, Years 5 and 6 got to experience life as Ancient Greeks. We all wore togas to school and some even wore head-dresses and brought in swords! We got involved in a range of activities including making clay pots and trying Greek foods. The foods we tasted included olives, Taramasalata, feta cheese, Greek yoghurt, honey and pitta bread. Taramasalata and olives were our least favourite!
On Monday the 15th January, Years 3 and 4 had the chance to experience life as evacuees during the Second World War. The children came to school dressed as evacuees and participated in a range of activities including making posters about rationing, deciding what they would pack in a suitcase, watching videos and reading books about the war and making carrot cookies!
We all really enjoyed our WOW days and loved taking part in the activities that helped us to learn how people lived in different periods of history.

Wow! KS1 had a wonderful time during their African drumming session as part of their topic on Africa. They learnt how to correctly play an African drum using different parts of their hands. Souleymane Compo taught them a variety of rhythms and beats for the children to play. They enjoyed listening to Souleymane play some amazing rhythms and some of the children joined in dancing to the beat.

We would like to say a huge thank you to parents and carers for supporting our Wow Days; especially for helping the children with their fanastic costumes.
