We had a fantastic science week in school from 11^th to 15^th March. The theme this year was 'Journeys' and in Key Stage 1, we had a visit from a pilot. He showed us models of some of the aeroplanes he has flown and told us an amazing story about when he had to eject out of his plane! We also had a visit a man involved in making racing cars, who told us how materials are chosen to make cars light and strong, and a social scientist. We learnt that science is not just about experiments and potions but it can also be about people.

In Year 5 and 6, we had a fascinating visit from a lady from the museum of horology, who explained that many years ago, every town had their own time zone. We thought this would make our lives very complicated nowadays! Year 3 and 4 had a wonderful visit from a bee keeper, who told us lots of amazing facts about bees. She showed us parts from inside a hive and how to identify honey and bumble bees and told us about an Asian Hornets, who are eating our honey bees. A science teacher also came to talk to year 6 about his work and career.

During the week, the children carried out lots of experiments and investigations in school and we had 43 entries in our home experiment competition. Overall, it was a wonderful and very memorable week.
