Safer internet day
Tuesday 11th February was Safer Internet Day and a chance for us all to talk about what we do online and how we can keep safe.
This year the theme was ‘Free to be me’ and we explored how pupils can safely share things about themselves online. In assembly we spoke about how we can have the freedom to be creative with our online profiles. However, we are still responsible for our words and actions- even if they are online. We talked about which aspects of our lives it is safe to share online, such as hobbies and pets, and which bits aren’t – such as real name or address. We encouraged children to think about the fact that the people they ‘meet’ online may also only be sharing some parts of their real identity and therefore we don’t really know who they are.
