SATs 2019 Information
There were lots of changes with statutory assessment for Y2 and Y6 in 2016, so we put together this page to try to help parents and carers know what to expect and to keep them up to date with what's happening.
Here is our SATs briefing presentation which provides a complete overview of the statutory assessments and how they are delivered at GHF school.
Key Stage 1 - Year 2
Y2 tests take place during May. Please note, Y2 pupils definitely take the reading and maths tests as they are not optional. Some pupils may take the Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar tests which are optional. Teacher assessments for reading, maths and writing are made and submitted in June.
Key stage 2 - Year 6
In all schools nationally, Y6 tests follow a strict timetable as below:
Date | Activity |
---|---|
Monday 13 May 2019 | English grammar, punctuation and spelling papers 1 and 2 |
Tuesday 14 May 2019 | English reading |
Wednesday 15 May 2019 | Mathematics papers 1 and 2 |
Thursday 16 May 2019 | Mathematics paper 3 |
Teacher assessments are also made for Y6 and assessments in terms of writing are made and submitted to the DfE in June.
Here are two videos to explain more about the tests and how parents can support their child.
The Department for Education published a leaflet to explain to parents of pupils in Y2/end of KS1 the outcomes from the tests - follow this link. They also published a leaflet to explain to parents of pupils in Y6/end of KS2 the outcomes from the tests - follow this link.
